Pony Club Association of WA · State Eventing Championship


State Eventing Championships to be held at Gidgegannup on July 25th and 26th 2009 This year the PCAWA State Eventing Championships are being held at Gidgegannup Horse and Pony Club's wonderful grounds.

Eventing is the ultimate test requiring total trust, supreme athleticism, fitness and courage on part of both the horse and rider. Eventing combines three distinct phases: dressage, cross-country and show jumping. There are four grades for pony club riders to compete in at the championships: C,B, A and A+, with riders aged from 11 to 25 coming from all over the state to represent their pony clubs.

The weekend will be a great spectator event for anyone interested in equestrian sport.

Gnangara · Sustainability Strategy E-Bulletin


Have your say about the future of the Gnangara groundwater system. The draft Gnangara sustainability strategy will be available for public comment from 6 July 2009 for an eight week period concluding on 31 August 2009.

Electronic and hard copies of the strategy will be available from 6 July 2009. Four public forums will be held on the week commencing 20 July 2009 to provide information on the Gnangara sustainability strategy and facilitate comment on the document.

The much anticipated City of Swan Avon Descent Family Fun Day will be even better this year with a new venue and loads of family activities planned.

The event is being held at Fishmarket Reserve at the western end of Swan Road, Guildford, on August 2 running from 11am until 3pm.

EMRC · Community Grants Program


The 2009/10 EMRC Community Grants Program is now open with a total pool of $15,000 allocated for the year. Grants of up to $1,000 are available for programs, activities, events or facilities that assist in the development or maintenance of the recreational, social or cultural needs of members of the Gidgegannup, Hovea, Parkerville and/or Stoneville communities.

A copy of the EMRC Community Grants Guidelines and Application form can be obtained by contacting EMRC on 9424 2222 during normal business hours, or be downloaded via the link below.

Applications for community grants must be provided on the EMRC Community Grants Program Application Form and received by close of business on Friday 21 August 2009.

FESA · Controlled Burning Guide and Workshops


Learn how to conduct a controlled burn on your property. FESA has developed a simple Winter Burning Guide for the Perth Hills area to assist people in conducting a controlled burn. Workshops will be held over the next few weeks, to show the correct burning procedure and give people the confidence to undertake a controlled burn on their own property.

Planning WA · Peel Region Scheme Amendments Deferred


Decisions to initiate future urban rezoning amendments to the Metropolitan Region Scheme will be deferred until the end of January 2010. Urban Rezoning requests to the Peel Region Scheme are also being deferred.
