Restricted Burning Season from 1st Oct 2009 Permits required

Good to see lots of rain, dams filling etc. The downside will be that good growth this year will produce high fuel loads with elevated fire risk when the weather does dry off. The window of opportunity for hazard reduction burning this spring may be very narrow, as also happened this last autumn. This could be an "Interesting" season! This Fire Season will see changes to the Bushfires Act 1954 some of which are listed below.

Parky / Darlington Warriors · Footy Win


Parkerville Darlington Warriors under 14s team won the Swan Districts competition grand final game against Kalamunda on Sunday the 13th Sept at Bassendean oval. Without a doubt the 2 best teams played off for the premiership flag and it was a hard fought game.

8 of the warriors players played their junior footy at Gidgegannup jfc and all made a great contribution to the win. The final score was Parky / Darlington 13 goals 11 behinds 89 points to Kalamunda 11 goals 5 behinds 71 points.

The win was even more special for the Warriors as this was their second grand final win in 2 years. Last year they won the under 13s premiership.

Jordy Yeoman again won the best on the ground award and also won the competition best and fairest for the 2nd year in a row.

EMRC · Earth Training Course


A free course available for all residents in Perth's Eastern Region and is designed to teach practical ways to minimize waste in our daily lives, provide current information on how waste is managed, offer composting and worm farming demonstrations.

The three week course will begin in October 2009. To learn more about how you can participate, come along to one of the following information sessions.

Wednesday, September 16, 5.45pm-7pm. Midland Junction Arts Centre, Cnr. Great Eastern Highway and Cale St. Midland. Josh Byrne from ABC's Gardening Australia will be a guest speaker. Light supper provided.

Saturday, September 19 10.30am - 11.30 am Midland Junction Arts Centre. Morning tea will be provided.
