Progress Association · Motorbike and Car Nuisance

Residents are complaining that the nuisance from motorbikes and cars, speeding and driving dangerously is increasing. This is particularly prevalent on O'Brien, Clenton, Berry, Copley Dale roads, which appears some sort of circuit for the simple minded with a death wish.

The only way we can hope to do anything about this is to try and get number plates, time, place, photos even and report the details to the Police on 131 444. The Police are willing to help they just need the details.

Restricted Burning Season from 1st Oct 2009 to 30th Nov 2009 - Permits required.

Hasn’t it dried off rapidly. Very active fire behaviour has been observed recently, brigades attending a number of fires which have been the result of hazard reduction burns getting out of control.

This Fire Season will see changes to the Bushfires Act 1954 some of which are listed later in the article.

Progress Association · Councillor Swan Valley / Gidgegannup Ward

Darryl Trease has been elected the new councillor for the Swan Valley/Gidgegannup ward to replace Steve Croy who has retired after six years in the job. Our thanks to Steve.

We would like to thank all the candidates who stood and took a lot of trouble to come up and talk to the community.

Although Swan Valley and Gidgegannup wards were amalgamated a few years ago, we still consider that Darryl is the replacement for the Gidgegannup Councillor and now, like it or not, he is now an honorary Gidgeganuppian. Welcome Darryl.

It is recommended that Council advise the WAPC that the City’s priorities for development remain as enunciated in the City’s Urban Growth Policy endorsed on 24 May 2006. Further, the City will support the development of Bullsbrook, Gidgegannup and Upper Swan when it is satisfied that constraints in these areas can be overcome and necessary infrastructure can be provided. In this regard the City provides no priority order for urban development in rural areas.

West Gidge Fire Brigade · News and Fire Advice October 2009

Restricted Burning Season from 1st Oct 2009 – Permits required

Good to see lots of rain, dams filling etc. The downside will be that good growth this year will produce high fuel loads with elevated fire risk when the weather does dry off. The window of opportunity for hazard reduction burning this spring may be very narrow, as also happened this last autumn. This could be an "Interesting" season! This Fire Season will see changes to the Bushfires Act 1954 some of which are listed below.
