Gidge Fire Brigades · Calling for Volunteers

It might be winter but things are still happening in Gidgegannup. A few call outs but otherwise quiet on the fire front.

Behind the scenes the brigades are making preparations for the 2010/2011 fire season, servicing equipment, organising teams, scheduling training and planning our community programmes.

The brigades, both East and West Gidgegannup, are looking for new members to fill the ranks and would welcome the opportunity to talk with any members of our community who would like to offer their support with:

• Being an active Volunteer Fire Fighter
• Bushfire Ready Group Coordinators and Facilitators
• Brigade committee members

The next training for Volunteer Fire Fighters is scheduled for September so if you would like to be involved act now by contacting:

- Sean Corbin, Captain East Gidgegannup 9574 6071
- John Mangini, Captain West Gidgegannup 9574 6289

Not sure of your area – contact either one and they will assist you.

For those people wishing to be involved with the Bush Fire Ready Program please contact David Cole, BRG Coordinator, on 0409 746 425 or david.cole@focused.com.au

West Gidge Fire Brigade · News and Fire Advice August 2010

Hope you have all enjoyed the rain we have had so far, and that those of you who are still having to feed stock soon get a reprieve.

With Victorian Royal Commission due to release its final report at about the time of the Gidgegram publication, and the completion but not release of the FESA report into the Toodyay fires, we are likely to see a number of recommendations made. Some of these will be relevant to us.
