West Gidge Fire Brigade · Christmas Party


The West Gidgegannup Volunteer Bush Fire Brigade is pleased to invite landholders and brigade members and their family in the West Gidgegannup fire district to our End of Season Party.

Football Club · Gidge Bulldogs Premiership / AGM


The Gidge Bulldogs have become the Hills Football Association Premiers for the third successive year in a 10.9(69) to 8.7(55) game against Pickering Brook.

The AGM will be held at the Recreation Club on Sunday 6th November, 2011 at 11.30 am, followed by a barbecue

Cricket Club · Season Start


Require new players for the upcoming season in the Hills Sunday Cricket Association.

Season commences on 16 October 2011. Training is on Wednesday evenings at 5.30 at Percy Cullen oval starting 29th September. Gidge plays in the Hills Cricket Association on Sundays from 12.30 pm. Games are one-day encounters, 40 overs a side, with a series of 20/20 fixtures in January.

City of Swan · Bushfire Preparedness Meeting


During summer in WA, the vegetation and weather conditions together with human activities makes us vulnerable to Bushfires and its effects. Therefore, bushfires are inevitable but we can act together to reduce the frequency and manage the effects bushfires have on our communities.

The City of Swan will be conducting information sessions to assist you in preparing your property for the 2011/2012 fire season.

Gidgegannup Place Office, Saturday 15 October 2011, 9.30-11:30am.

Nominations are being called for the City of Swan Premier's Australia Day Active Citizenship Awards in conjunction with the Australia Day Council of Western Australia.

Nominations are being accepted for the following awards:
- Active Citizenship Award
- Active Citizenship Award for a person under 25 years
- Active Citizenship Award for a community group or event

Nominations close Friday 11th November 2011. Awards will be presented at the City of Swan Australia Day Citizenship Ceremony on 26th January 2012

State Government · Minister supports truck parking regulations


Planning Minister John Day has given his support to a City of Swan decision to amend its local planning scheme regarding parking of commercial vehicles and transport depots on rural and residential landholdings.

The City of Swan will give affected people 12 months to comply with the Amendment No.40 to the City of Swan Local Planning Scheme No.17.

State Government · Tough new litter fines


Under a new zero tolerance policy on potentially dangerous littering behaviour, people who litter cigarette butts will face an on the spot fine of $200, up from $75, while anyone successfully prosecuted for general littering could soon face a maximum fine of $5,000, up from $1,000.

According to the Fire and Emergency Services Authority, between eight and 12 per cent of fires are started by cigarette butts, so it is important that we each do our bit to keep WA safe and litter free, whether through the enforcement process or community education.

State Government · Off-road motorbike trail in Gnangara


Recreational trail bike users in the metropolitan area will have access to upgraded facilities following construction of a new area in the Gnangara pine plantation.

These programs are the initial stages of the State Governmentís response to the State Trail Bike Strategy and are intended to begin the transition process of recreational trail bike riders to a more planned, managed, sustainable and safer environment for their activity.
