Fire Brigades · Fire News & Advice June 2012

The Restricted Burning Season finishes 31st May 2012. The next Restricted Burning Season is scheduled to start 1st Oct 2012.

From 1st June to 30th Sept permits are not required. However this in no way relieves you of your responsibility to take due care.

You are still fully liable for
- ANY consequences of your burn getting out of control
- For smoke causing nuisance, damage or traffic hazard

There have been numerous cases of people being "surprised" at how easily a fire can get away even in winter after a dry spell.
- You should always plan for worst case scenario and have a backup plan.
- You should advise neighbours of any burns which might cause concern.
- You should take at least as many precautions as you would if required to have a permit.
