Agricultural Society · Gidge Show

Hi everyone!

Don’t forget the Gidge Show, which is on the 26 October this year. Entries must be in by 16 October except for flower entries which must be in by 19 October. No late entries will be accepted.

Please take note of Rules and Regulations and Section Notes in the schedule and conform with sizes, presentations etc. The schedule will be out by the time you read this and it is available for downloading here.

Slight changes to the Schedule since last year: Section M (Group 6); A new class for LEGO for adults (class R607); A new group for Cider under Homebrew (Group T3); Changes to the number of entries submitted in groups 3 (Photos) for all children; Changes to the number of art submissions in groups 7 for most children.

Spring is in the air, make it ‘spring in your step’ and get those entries in. We love to see what’s coming. Prizes can be collected before 4PM on the day from the Show Accountant’s window in the Hall building. Trophies will be awarded 4.30PM in the Hall on Show day, and you will be able to collect your entries after the trophies have been given out. Should you not be able to pick up your entries when it is time, please leave your email address on the entry form, and we will be in contact as to where and when to pick them up. Every year some entries are left behind at the closing of the Show.

Our Show is about promoting the life style in the Hills, what we can do, our needs and our community spirit. It is wonderful to be part of it. It is something for everybody to be part of, whether you work in the city, on the land in the hills or have your own little business based here.

This year a very special person will be opening the Show, Ian Stannard. I an has supported G.A.S. numerous years and has been awarded a well earned life membership. Ian and his family sponsor the Show every year, and he has been the President of the Society for many years. We thought he would be the right person for the job of opening the Show this year.

For others who like to sponsor us, sponsorships are always possible, please contact Lyn Dahl on 9574 6311 in this respect. If you want a stall, please contact Caroline Pembroke on 9574 6937.

Councillor Darryl Trease · Re-election Pitch

It’s been an unbelievably quick 4 years. I hope I’ve added value to the community. We’ve had a few wins and improved some community facilities over the journey. As the saying goes, you can’t win them all, but rest assured I tried my absolute best. In this position I’m afraid you can’t please everyone and that still bothers me.
