30/04/2007 · Junior Football Club · 2007 season has finally arrived!!!
Saturday the 28th of April saw the Auskick season kick off with lots of new eager kids wanting to get their hands on a footy. The following day, Sunday the 29th saw our under 10s and the 2 under 12 teams open the season with 3 hard fought games.
To prove that Aussie rules is a winter sport the heavens decided to open just as the 2 12s games were starting. This coupled with the wet training day the previous Tuesday was probably the first time that we have had wet training and game days in the one week. The boys loved it and those parents game enough to brave the weather got right into the spirit. In previous seasons we have been blessed with great weather so it was a great chance for the boys to experience wet weather footy.
Gidge 12s and Parkerville
Due to numbers being down this year we only have the one 10s team and Brett Dale is the coach. John Whife and Gary Beale are doing the 2 12s teams. Lawrie Kiely and Dave Canny are looking after the Auskickers.
Training for both 10s and 12s is on Tuesdays after school and Auskick is on Saturday morning at 9am.
Follow the link below for contacts and regular updates.

29/04/2007 · CWA · Recent and planned activities
During April the CWA have continued with their ongoing projects of knee-rugs for local nursing homes and "operation dolls" for the children going in to Swan Districts Hospital. They have made some lovely items for the CWA charity stall.
Remember 100% of proceeds from CWA fund-raising goes to charity. They support only very worthwhile causes, most of them local ones.
The outing to Burswood on the 18th April went very well and was greatly enjoyed. It was well worth the $10 just for the outing and the lunch.
During May there will be a new Branch project, involving a local women's and children's refuge, along with their regular work. They will also be teaching crochet to those who can't and want to - new members very welcome. Stall items for May will be beanies and scarves.
On Wednesday, 23rd May the Hoy Day will be held at the CWA Hall from 10.00 am - 2.30 pm. A Soup lunch is provided. Please call Pam 9572 7687 for details.
The CWA Hall is open every Wednesday, 10 am - 3 pm, Gidge Showgrounds. Please feel free to drop in to meet us, have a look around, or just for a chat. We are a very friendly group of ladies and would be very pleased to see you.

29/04/2007 · Football Club · Season off to a good start
Gidge won the first game of the season against of Mundaring in defence of their premiership. Just 5 points in it 9g14 to 9g9. With nine new players in the team playing together for the first time this made the effort all the more meritorious. A blend of youth and experience. Although a real team effort with everyone contributing, it was Nathan Basher with 5 goals from centre half forward who was the worthy winner of the Gidge Bakery's best player award. Ash Howse, in defence, won the Steelfab Water Solutions award, while the ever reliable (and last year's fairest and best) Sam Pedley-Mulcahy received the Wesuri Alpaca's award. Trent Vinecombe justly deserved the Judy Fletcher Real Estate Coaches award. Others to show early season form were Drew Mitchell (in the ruck) Shaun Lester and Callum McCrudden.
Congratulations to (veteran) Sam Thorne on being appointed captain and Shaun Lester as vice-captain. Disappointment for Sam as he fractured a foot in the opening game and will miss up to six weeks.
Congratulations also to Dale Elliott, returning to the Club after a number of years on playing his 50th game.
Gidge plays Chidlow (awa) on 29th April, Wooroll (at home on 6th May, before another Saturday twilight game against Bullsbrook (away) on 12th May. Round 6 is Belt Up Weekend and the HFA is holding a triple header at Chidlow. Gidge plays Mt. Helena in the early game at 1030 am.

20/04/2007 · Kookaburra Cinema · Winter Recess
Hi There,
Season 11 at Kookaburra ended last Saturday as the Sunday session was cancelled due to very heavy rain... like about 52mm at the venue from around 5.30pm onwards.
There were quite a few phone calls on the Sunday enquiring as to whether we would be re-scheduling that cancelled session of The Valet but could not be done as the print had other bookings elsewhere and had to move on. So we are now in winter recess, thank you all for your support this season and we look forward to re-opening for Season 12 on approx Nov 16th.
Daylight Saving did have an impact... or maybe my programming for January was a bit off but this January was down on the average going back 8 years. Possibly the rather cooler summer also impacted one just does not know with any certainty.
Regards, Lindsay at Kookaburra
