12/06/2007 · Progress Association · Trail Bikes
Sadly there have been recent deaths of young people riding these bikes. It appears that trail bike riders are asking for more off road facilities. The Department of Local Government and Regional Development reports that there are eight areas in the metropolitan area where people can ride trail bikes including Gnangara and Chidlow. The Chidlow facility is operated by a club, which takes insurance responsibility.
Certainly in Gidgegannup these trail bikes are somewhat of a nuisance when they are used in Reserves and on public roads, but perhaps the issue is to find them somewhere where they can ride legally. Maybe parents who purchase these bikes for their young people should give this some thought.

05/06/2007 · Junior Football Club · Season Update
Some photos here of the night game on Friday the 18th of May.
Turned out to be perfect conditions for football. A large crowd watched as Gidge played Mundaring in the 10s game and then in the 12s it was Gidge blue against Mt Helena, while the White 12s team tackled Mundaring.
The following week the 10s and 12s White travelled to Mundaring oval to again play under lights. This was the first time that any of our boys had played night footy away from Gidge. We would like to thank Mundaring Junior Football club for the great night.
Gidge blue travelled to Darlington to play a hard fought game between showers.

17/06/2007 · State Government · Comment on Trail Bike Strategy
The WA State Trail Bike strategy is an initiative of the Recreational Trailbike Riders’ Association of WA and Motorcycling WA. It is funded by the Department of Sport and Recreation and the Department of Environment and Conservation.
The need is there to establish designated tracks for riders away from horses and walkers. Such a track would be in a specific area and riders would not be allowed to deviate from the track thereby protecting the environment.
One of the compromises that may need to be made is a decibel limit so there are lower noise emissions on the bikes. The consultant will also be looking at junior licensing, rider training and education, liability and safety.
The first stage of this process is consultation with interest groups, including community and conservation groups and recreational trail bike riders.
Public comment is sought via an online survey, which will remain open until July 31 2007.
