13/07/2007 · Progress Association · Gidgegannup Lifestyle Survey

Meetings over the past 12 months have identified the need to protect the “Gidgegannup Lifestyle” from development projects that would destroy what we currently have, but what is it?

The aim of this survey is to find out why we all live in Gidgegannup, and what it is that needs protecting. This information can then be used to support our lifestyle when negotiating with state and local authorities to only allow development that meets with our community requirements.

You have the choice of completing the survey online or print it out and return the completed form to one of the addresses mentioned.

21/07/2007 · Western Power · Hills Upgrades Finished

Western Power has completed a six month program of works designed to upgrade and improve power supplied to the Hills.

So far this year Western Power has installed two new automatic circuit breakers (reclosers) on Sexton Road and Cromwell Street in Sawyers Valley. These are expected to reduce the number of homes affected by, and the duration of any fault.

In the same area on the Chidlow Feeder, 2 km. of overhead conductor lines have been replaced with aerial bundled cabling, which insulates the power line and stops faults caused by vegetation debris or birds. In Mt. Helena 1.2 km. of overhead line along Alice Road has been replaced with aerial bundled cabling. A capacitor bank, which improves power quality, has been installed on Sexton Road near Keane Street several months ahead of schedule.

One of the improvements suggested by Western Power at the forum held in March was that Gidgegannup should have a sub station costing about $13mn. installed in the near future. This expenditure will have to be approved by the Economic Regulation Authority and public comment will be sought.

12/07/2007 · Census 2006 · Quick Stats 6083

QuickStats provides a summary of key census data relating to persons, families and dwellings.

The Census counted the population for the postal area 6083 to be 3,070 persons in 2006, a decrease from 3,473 in 2001. However, the census count is not the best measure of population available. The most accurate estimation of the population is the estimated resident population (ERP) produced by the ABS.

The ERP for postal area 6083 in June 2006 was 4,298 persons, an increase from 3,579 in 2001. It is important to note that this data is not based on the 2006 Census. New Postal Area ERPs based on 2006 census data will be available in August.
