12/05/2008 · West Gidge Fire Brigade · Restricted Burning Season

Please be advised that the Restricted Burning Season has been amended so as to end at midnight on the 17th May 2008. Permits are required until then. Permits will not be required from 18 May 2008 until the next Restricted Burning season commences, probably 1st Oct 2008 depending on rainfall etc.

Not requiring permits does not absolve anyone of the requirement to maintain adequate control over any burning activity, to avoid damage or nuisance to neighbours, and to minimise the impact of smoke on traffic movements etc. Property owners are still liable for any consequences of their burning.

01/05/2008 · Football Club · Bulldogs Barking

Once again Gidge has started the season with a new-look side. There are 10 players missing from our 2007 premiership side, retirements and work commitments being the main contributing factors.

The season started well for Gidge under new coach John Fabling, taking out the Bendigo Bank pre-season Cup with a narrow 4-pt win against Mundaring in the final, followed by a comfortable win against Chidlow in the first of our home-and-away games. However Mundaring took the points in Round 3 with a narrow 6-pt victory in a hard-fought encounter.

Congratulations to Shaun Lester on being voted in as captain for 2008. His able deputies for the season will be Drew Mitchell and Sandy Bent.

Thanks to following award sponsors for 2008: The Gidge Bakery, ABM Landscaping, Wesuri Alpacas and Judy Fletcher Real Estate. The Club also appreciates the support of all our major season sponsors.

In the early games newcomer Cameron Hore has played well, while last year's fairest and best Nathan Basher (with 8 second-half goals against Chidlow) continues to give the side drive in the forward line. Graham Docking and Sean Nagle have been reliable in defence while Dylan Street has been prominent through the midfield. Sandy Bent and Shaun Lester have also shown glimpses of form.
