In 1969 a group of mainly Dianella residents who regularly played darts and pool at their local drinking
establishment, decided to extend their activities to golf.
They commenced playing socially at the Rosehill Public Golf Course and as their number increased,
a more formal competition was introduced.
By the end of 1970 the first President had been elected and for presentations and after match drinks,
a club room erected.
The Dianella Golf Club (DGC) was incorporated in February 1975.
The Club affiliated with the Western Australian Golf League
(WAGL) and has won numerous Pennant Flags over the years, the most recent being the 5th Division Pennants in
2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004 and 2006.
The Dianella Golf Club still has Rosehill Public Golf Course as it’s home course.
Being in South Guildford, this venue is conveniently located for residents of Gidgegannup
and nearby hills areas.
DGC offers golf enthusiasts the opportunity to play the game both socially and competitively.
The club plays every Sunday morning with tee-off times from 6.30am in summer and 7am in winter.
The DGC committee arrange an annual calendar of games that include most forms of golf for weekly
match-of-the-day and Club Championship events.
Members are able to put their names forward for selection in the Club’s Pennant Team and are eligible to
compete in WAGL events conducted through the year.
Being affiliated with the Western Australian Golf League, the DGC is subject to that organisation’s rules
regarding such matters as player registration, dress regulations, handicap policy and tournament directives.
Major WAGL events conducted annually are:
- WAGL State Championships
- WAGL Country Championships
- WAGL Champion of Champions
- WAGL Pennant Finals
Some affiliated clubs host other WAGL events during the year such as the Dianella Spring Cup,
hosted by the DGC each September which attracts a field of about 180 competitors.
New members are always welcome at the Dianella Golf Club. Information is available
on this website.
